At Antwerp Gas Depot, we make exchanging gas cylinders simple, clear, and safe. Do you have an empty gas cylinder? In many cases, you can exchange it for a full cylinder of the same brand and type. Do you have a gas cylinder you no longer use? We will gladly check whether you are entitled to a refund of the deposit.

Whether you use a gas cylinder for a barbecue, camper, caravan, patio heater, forklift, or professional application, a proper deposit and exchange system ensures that you can continue quickly and always work with a safe, inspected gas cylinder.

How does the deposit on a gas cylinder work?

When purchasing a gas cylinder for the first time, you usually pay for two things:

the gas fill
the deposit for the cylinder itself

You pay this deposit because the cylinder remains the property of the brand or supplier. After it is returned, the cylinder is inspected, recertified, and refilled. This ensures safety and allows gas cylinders to be reused sustainably.

The deposit varies depending on the brand, the type of cylinder, and its contents.

How does exchanging a gas cylinder work?

Is your gas cylinder empty and do you need gas again? In that case, exchanging it is usually the fastest solution.

How it works:

You bring your empty gas cylinder to Antwerp Gas Depot.
We check the brand and type of cylinder you have.
You exchange your empty cylinder for a full one from the same system or, where possible, a compatible alternative.
You only pay for the new gas fill, not the full deposit again.

For many customers, this is the easiest way to quickly get back to cooking, heating, camping, or professional use.

When do you get your deposit back?

No longer using the gas cylinder? Then you can return it. Depending on the brand and the applicable conditions, you may be eligible to get your deposit back.

Important to know:
the cylinder must match a brand and system that can be processed correctly
the cylinder must be in acceptable condition
for some brands, an original deposit receipt or deposit card is required
conditions vary by supplier and type of cylinder
